Start your first feasibility

From your first sign-in to a project with its summary figures.

Plans: Free, Pro and Team5 minutesUpdated Feaso Cloud team

On Free you have one project, started blank or from the Townhouse subdivision template, using Feaso standard, the built-in calculation method; the Your defaults and Invite your team set-up steps show a padlock. Inviting people is on Team.

This guide takes you from the welcome email to a working feasibility with its headline returns on screen. Set-up takes a few minutes, and the details you enter once (your organisation, state and GST defaults) carry into every project and report after it.

Before you start

  • The welcome email, “Your Feaso Cloud organisation is ready”. Its temporary password works for 72 hours.
  • An authenticator app on your phone, such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator.
  • Your logo (PNG or SVG, ideally at least 400 px wide) and ABN, if you want them on reports.
  1. Step 1: Sign in with your temporary password

Open the welcome email and click Sign in. Enter your Email and the temporary password in Password, then click Sign in. The temporary password stops working once you have chosen your own.

  2. Step 2: Choose your own password

On Choose your own password, type a New password and again in Confirm password. The checklist ticks each rule as you meet it: At least 12 characters, Not a commonly used or breached password, Not your email and Not the temporary password. Click Save and continue.

  3. Step 3: Set up two-factor

Two-factor is required. On Get an authenticator app, click I have one. On Scan this code, scan the QR code with your app, or copy the Setup key into it. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and click Verify. Trust this device for 30 days is ticked by default; untick it on a shared computer.

On Save your recovery codes, click Download or copy the codes, tick I’ve saved these codes somewhere safe and click Finish. Each code signs you in once if you lose your phone.

  4. Step 4: Set up your organisation

Four steps follow, shown in a stepper across the top. On Your organisation, enter the Organisation name, a Trading name for reports (optional), your logo (Upload logo), ABN (optional), Business address (optional) and Entity type. A preview shows how your organisation will head reports. Click Continue.

On Your defaults, choose your Primary state or territory, BAS cycle, Default GST on sales and Calculation method (Feaso standard is selected; Review the method shows its settings). Each project can change these on its Setup tab. On Invite your team, add each person’s email and role and send the invitations. Every step has Skip for now.

  5. Step 5: Create your first project

On Start your first project, choose Start from a template or Start blank. The Townhouse subdivision template models 14 townhouses on a subdivided site, sold off the plan, with a land loan and a senior facility. Blank leaves every input to you.

Enter the Project name (for example, Brunswick townhouses, 12 lots), Address, State and Project start date. Projects start on the first of a month; the line under the form names Month 1. Click Create project. The project opens with a short tour of the tabs, the start date, scenarios, hurdles and Share.

  6. Step 6: Fill in the Setup tab

The tabs run left to right: Summary, Setup, Program, Costs, Sales, Leasing, Finance, Cashflow and Reports. Start on Setup. In Project information, check the State Jurisdiction, Project start date, Exit month and Discount rate (%).

The GST card sets the rate, Reporting cycle and the treatment of development costs, residential rent, operational costs and sales. Under Tax tables, set the Land tax owner and Land tax timing; stamp duty for your state feeds the Land Acquisition line automatically. Edits save as you go, and the header shows Session saved.

  7. Step 7: Read the Summary KPIs

The KPI strip above every tab shows Profit, Total development cost, Return on Cost, Project IRR, Equity IRR and Peak equity, recalculated as you type.

Open Summary for the detail. Project returns lists each metric’s Actual against a Target hurdle. Type your targets, for example 20% for Return on Cost, and results that miss them are flagged. Residual land value shows the land price at which the project meets each target. Below are Capital stack over time, Where the money goes, a Sensitivity grid, Funding and Scenarios.

Tips

  • Edits stay in Current until you save them to a scenario from the scenario menu in the header.
  • Keep your recovery codes away from your phone. If you lose both, an owner of your organisation can reset your two-factor.
  • People you invite get an invitation email and choose their own password from its link.
  • On Pro and Team, later projects start from + New project in the projects browser: Import, Template or Blank.

Try it on your own project.
