Import an existing feaso
Bring a spreadsheet feaso into Feaso Cloud with the import template.
Import is part of + New project, and on Free that button shows a padlock once you have your one project. The AI Importer has a monthly allowance: 5 AI imports on Pro, 10 on Team.
If your feasibilities live in spreadsheets, the import template moves one into Feaso Cloud without keying every line on screen. You type or paste the inputs into a workbook laid out like the app’s tabs, and Feaso Cloud checks every cell before it creates anything.
There are three ways in. The import template suits any feaso you’re happy to key into a workbook. If you work in EstateMaster DF, import its .emdf file as it is. If your feaso is your own Excel model, the AI Importer reads it and fills in the template for you.
Before you start
- Your existing feaso, with its program, land, costs, sales, leasing and finance inputs to hand.
- Excel, or a spreadsheet program that saves .xlsx files.
Step 1: Open + New project and choose Import
In the projects browser, click + New project. In the New project dialog, under Start from, choose Import. The dialog shows three options: Download the import template, Import completed template OR Estate Master DF file and AI Importer.
Step 2: Download the import template
Click Download template. You get Feaso Cloud import template.xlsx, a workbook with a sheet for each part of the feasibility, dropdowns, and help on every column.
Open it at Start here, which explains how to fill it in and lists every column. The sheets follow the app’s tabs: Setup, Hurdles, Development summary, Program, Land, Costs, Quick feaso, Sales, Leasing and Finance. Click any cell to see what it means; each header’s note has the full help.
Step 3: Fill in Setup and Hurdles
Setup and Hurdles list one field per row: type each value in the Value column. Required Setup fields are bold: Project name, State and Project start date, which must be the first of a month. Every month number in the workbook counts from it.
On Hurdles, enter your targets, such as Return on cost % and Equity IRR %. Type percentages as 10 or 10%. Money is AUD ex GST, and dates are DD/MM/YYYY. Leave a cell blank to get what a new project gets: your organisation’s defaults and calculation method.
Step 4: Add the program, then the other sheets
The other sheets have their headers in row 1 and one item per row. Fill Program first, from the top: its tasks then appear in the phase dropdowns on the other sheets. A program needs a Construction task and an Operation task.
Then add land purchases on Land, cost lines on Costs (300 rows are ready), and lines on Sales, Leasing and Finance. Blue headers are required. Refs are short codes that link rows, for example a tenancy’s Ref named in a leased sales line. A sheet you leave empty keeps the new project’s own rows.
Step 5: Choose the completed workbook
Save the workbook and go back to the dialog. Under Import completed template OR Estate Master DF file, click Choose file… and pick the .xlsx file. Feaso Cloud reads it in your browser (Reading the workbook…) and checks it there first. Nothing is created until you import it.
When it checks out, a summary shows the state, start date and address, then the counts: tasks, purchases, cost lines, sales lines, tenancies and facilities.
Step 6: Fix any problems
If the check finds problems, the dialog lists them under Fix these things in the workbook, then choose it again (with the count). Each names the sheet, row and column, for example “Program, Task: The program needs a Construction task” or a percentage outside −100% to 100%.
Fix them in Excel, save, and click Choose another…. A workbook that isn’t the import template, or is an older version of it, is refused: download the template again.
Step 7: Name the project and import it
The Project name comes from the workbook; change it here if you like. Choose a Folder, or New folder… and a New folder name. Click Import project.
The workbook is checked again, then the project opens with its first scenario, Baseline, already calculated. It starts with the latest 3-month BBSW rate from ASX, as any new project does (when one has been read).
Step 8: Finish the set-up in Feaso Cloud
Some inputs aren’t in the template, so set them after the import: feasibility windows, joint-venture partners, the calculation method and the Summary’s solver choices. Then work through the tabs and compare the KPI strip with your original feaso. Where a figure differs, check the method’s settings on the Setup tab’s Calculation method card.
Import an EstateMaster DF file
If your feasibility is in EstateMaster DF, you don’t need the template. Importing an EstateMaster file doesn’t use any AI imports.
- Under Import completed template OR Estate Master DF file, click Choose file… and pick the .emdf file. Your browser reads it; nothing is sent until you import.
- If the file has more than one option, choose one under EstateMaster option. If it doesn’t name the state, choose it under State.
- Check the summary and the notes on what came across. Where EstateMaster and Feaso Cloud work a figure out differently, the import keeps EstateMaster’s: land tax as a fixed yearly amount, stamp duty as an override, and each loan’s average monthly rate. Cost curves take the nearest Feaso Cloud curve. The notes list each of these, and what was left out, such as EstateMaster’s sensitivity and probability analysis and its own custom sheets.
- Name the project, choose a folder and click Import project. Then compare the KPI strip with EstateMaster’s results.
Tips
- Pasting from another workbook is fine. Pasted cells skip Excel’s dropdowns, but the import checks every cell again.
- Download a fresh template for each feaso. A workbook made from an older template version is refused.
- The file must be the .xlsx you filled in, up to 5 MB.
- Save a scenario after your first round of corrections, so you can compare later changes against the imported figures.
